Just thought you guys would enjoy some free music.
definitely started summer off with a bang. thursday night was a neat show to edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros at my new campus (sup ucla!) and spent the night at the lovely abode of the amazing ms. horth. after waking up several times times (in 2 hour intervals) to move my car, we finally made breakfast.
met up with lilly afterwards, and we headed down to a different part of LA in hollywood in order to get some stuff done for her photo project. supposedly there was some sort of sale, and so she figured she could grab a couple sartorialist style photos in the area, buuuut that didn’t quite work out! so after asking a nicely dressed young lady (who coincedentally had the same color top as this beautiful mercedes 380 SL parked in the area) if we could take her photo, i guess lills had an artistic moment and started shooting like a madman
after heading home and not making my graduation commencement (no big deal), i got a short moment to breathe, take a shower, and get ready for the night. talk about fast-paced living..
i headed back up to LA to this place. i was told that there weren’t any camera’s allowed, but had email proof that they were…aha! so, i took a photo of these two gentlemen (who I am pretty sure are affiliated with hobofm)
i couldn’t get over how neat the place looked. after awkwardly looking around for others who were in my situation (i came alone), i found two cool dudes whose names i sadly have forgotten.
this was one of them.. gave me a lesson about LA geography and how cool shit was to be found at silverlake. forgot his name, but i know his initials are NC..judging by his badass ring
waiting for the show to start…
and the lights dim down.
here are a couple shots of the awesome calder quartet:
the first guy up was cass mccombs.. i sadly wasn’t able to grab any shots of him because i was having some memory card issues (i think i’m the only sad guy in the world who uses a 1GB card in his 5Dmk2)
the second group was foreign born. they were badass, and i loved their songs and style.. i met an awesome young lady by the name of lisa (who said she could very well be my mother, but i told her she looks half her age..) from treepeople.org, who said she needs a photographer, so who knows..you might see me shooting for their events soon!
also loved her little group, trying to bring back the “whoo whoo whoo” chant–should have grabbed a photo (damn you memory card)
and to top it off, i saw someone (somehow i remember his name…giovanni) shooting with a contax! he managed to score it for way cheap..i have to admit i was jealous. i’ll post his link up in the blogroll when i get it .
last up was rostam.. okay, technically he wasn’t “last” up–the groups did a sort of shuffle. buut, here he is anyway:
aaand what 5dmk2 post would be complete without a video?
i headed out after the next song by foreign born..it was getting late (wow, hate to sound like a big ~mysognist term~) and i was getting sleepy. in fact, i almost fell asleep on the freeway–that wasn’t fun.
buut, the final shot..on my way out, the security guard (once again, whose name i did not catch) said, “where’s my photo man!?”
and, so i took one. and it was good.
hope you enjoyed! sorry for you leica fans, i am broke and out of film.
